Theft of twin axle caravans continues to be a significant problem for insurers, with the rate of theft of this type of caravan far exceeding that of smaller single axle caravans. A number of major insurers have marked up their premiums for twin axle caravans by as much as 50% and as a result the cost of ownership of a twin axle caravan is considerably higher than that for single axle models.
If you have been hit by large increases or are looking to insure a twin axle for the first time you really need to shop around. Some of the newer entrants to the caravan insurance market have better rates available than more established companies that have previously had their fingers burned.
